Stop-And-Go Play Works In Online Poker10.0101

The term Stop-and-go play was first used and heard by the WSOP champion in 2004 Greg Raymer. The term works lot better in the online games than in the traditional casino games. It creates wonders especially in the $15-$30 and $30-$60 games.

The term Stop-and-Go play can be compared to Football. The wide receiver goes 10 yards up and then he changes his position and then catches a short pass. The same strategy is also applied by the quarterback. He and the receiver change their positions quickly and deceive and finally get a goal. The deceiving strategy can also be followed at the poker table when the player is good enough at hand or when he realizes that the price is too high to be compared and how he will win a particular game.

Let us say that you open with a raising hand A-Q or A-K and an aggressive player next to you makes three bets on it. Now, with this scenario you can think whether the player might have same equal pair as yours or a higher pair. Let us say that this move is a flop, and then you are safe. Now, you get a chance to use the Stop-And-Go play. Many players will be concentrated on the guy who made the three bets and you come out of betting. Then your opponent has to make a decision as long as he does not hold a bigger pair.

If he has made three bets before the flop A-K then he has to assume that the flop has helped you or, he can also think that you have firmly called the pocket pair and that you are in the lead now. After the flop the opponent gets to see 70% of his hand and the cost at the river and the turn only increase after that.

So, what can he do now? He will only think that you are in the lead and hence cannot call a bet. So, he only can fold and this is the chance you are waiting for as it helps you to win the pot. However, even if the opponent raises, he would fear that he would lose more money as you would play back at him. He might also come out of betting and make you to bet while it turns costly around the river and the turn. But if he does not have a hand then he probably would fold now and gets out inexpensively.

If the flop made by you carries a big card you still might make at this play only when the flop is not an Ace or a pair of J-9-3. If your opponent has A-K then he might probably make a win at the Turn or River. For him it’s actually a very dicey situation and he might not be getting a good price over the cards. If he still continues to play without fold and your cards turn out to be A-J or A-9 then will completely be dipped in the water and will lose all the money.

The stop-go and play strategy will really help you to win the game in such situations. You can make all the players to fold when you raise the hand. If a big card has failed at the turn then the player will have to sit and think whether it helped you or him and the betting limits would be doubled. So, if he tries to raise the hand he will have to make a fold and you will win. You will be lucky and thankful if a small card appears in the turn and it is a plus point for your pocket pair.

Like all the poker games it is always the tactics and about how strong your player is. If your opponent has a bigger hand then it is likely that he will re-raise and you will be put to test. If opponent is a skilled player then the game might turn in his favor and you might be put to rest.

Despite of the pros and cons the Stop-and-go strategy helps the player who employed it to win. Sometimes it might a bet or two that might cost you in the middle of winning the game.
