Playing Pocket Jacks

Hello,

I need your help. I have no idea how to play pocket Jacks. Please, do you have any preflop strategy to share with me?

Thank you.

Louie

Louie,

In early position, I would limp in with pocket jacks. In middle or late position, this is a raising hand. That is in a standard game. If I am in a game with loose or aggressive players, I’m going to raise with Jacks from just about anywhere to try and thin the field. If I am in a tight game, I might do the same.

If you encounter a reraise to your jacks, consider the opponent. If they are an average player, call. If they are loose or wild, then reraise. If they are a rock, it’s probably time to fold. You might call a rock here and hope to hit your set, but be careful when a rock reraises you preflop.
